I. General Questions For All Sites

Q:  How do I set up an avatar for posting on the forums?

A:  Click on Your Account.  Then look down until you see a link called "Your Files".  Click on that link.  There is an add files box there.  Hit browse and find the file in your computer that you wish to use as an avatar and then hit upload to upload it ot the site.  You can load up to 5 100X100 or smaller files.  Then go back to Your Account and Where it says "Avatar Image" choose the image you just uploaded.  Hit Save User Settings and your posts will now show that avatar.

Q:  How do I use smileys in the forums and how do I get a posting title?

A:  Smileys are made using brackets.  They are formatted as so:  [:laugh:].  If you click on Smily help on a new post page, it will bring up a list of what is available.  There are even some secret smileys you can discover over time.  There are two kinds of posting titles.  The designation scholar, sage and guru is not a premium feature.  It is based solely upon your karma rating.  The addition of Prefixes and suffixes such as "The Braindead" or "Princess" is a premium feature.  To select your designation, click on Your Account and where is says posting name choose your designation.  Then save your changes.

Q:  How do I set up my personal journal?

A:  Click on Your Account.  Where it says enable journal, change the setting from No.  Your choices are Yes (open and public), Read Only (Open but only you can post), Private (Only you can access) or Protected (Only those with a password can access).  If you are making it public, make up a title, choose the game and category and choose whether to list the journal on our User Journal List so that other site users can easily find it.  Then his Save User Settings.  The journal functions in the same way as our other forums and can be used for any purpose you want, within decency and reason.

Q:  How do I use my @allakhazam.com e-mail address?

A:  Click on Your Account.  There is a box marked "Publicise E-mail".  Check that box and save your settings.  This activates your @allakhazam.com e-mail address and lists it as your contact address on the site.  Anything sent to yourusername@allakhazam.com will automatically be forwarded to your registered address.  If you wish to reply with that address as your from address, you will need to set up an alias in your e-mail client.  Consult your individual client instructions for how to do that.

Q:  I'm a premium member, but am still seeing ads.  I thought premium members did not see any ads.  So why am I still seeing them?

A:  You should not be getting any banner, skyscraper or popup ads as a premium member.  Instead, you should see a welcome message with your username on it  If you are getting ads, check your browser to make sure you have cookies enabled and make sure your computer's date and time are correct.  Then click on login to make sure you are logged into the right account.  You may also need to clear your cache.  If you are getting popups and not banners, then it is probably not from us.  We suggest you download a program called ad-aware and check your computer for spyware.  Also, if you are seeing ads on EQ Atlas, that is probably because you have not logged in there.  You need to log into EQ Atlas separately in order to get rid of the ads on that site.

Q:  I got a new credit card I wish to use for my account.  How do I change that information?

A:  We wish to do everything possible to keep your credit card information secure.  Therefore, for security reasons, we won't let anyone access or change their credit card information.  To use a new card, mark your account to expire and then when it expires sign up again using the new credit card.  Your account will reactivate with everything still in place.

Q:  I wish to stop my account from renewing again.  How do I do that?

A:  Click on Your Account.  Right below your character profile box you should see "Billing Settings".  Change "Auto Renew Premium" to No and then hit "Save User Settings".  Your Account will now expire when the time you paid for runs out.
 

II. Everquest Specific Questions:

Q:  How do I use Lucy to upload my character information to the website?

A:  First Download the EQ Item Collector at this link and install it.  Then in the options menu, enable profile support.  Once you have set your options to profile support, you can use Item Collector to collect your profile and upload it to our server to use for things like the advanced item search and the wish list.  Here are step by step instructions on how to do this.

1.  Set up profile support in the options menu as described above.

2.  Launch Internet Explorer and make sure the privacy setting in its options menu is at medium or lower.  Then go to http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/user.html and log into the site.  (If you use IE as your default browser, you are probably already logged in).

3.  Launch Item Collector and if you do not have it defaulted to start when launched, start collection.

4.  Launch Everquest and log into the game.  Your Character should be saved to Item Collector when you log in.  If it is not, zoning will usually save it.  You can check back and forth in windows mode to make sure it is saved.

5.  In Item Collector, go to file->profiles.  Your Character should be listed there.  Click on the character and the information should display on the right side.  To upload to our server, click on "Upload".  You can then view your character at http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/userinfo.html.  Characters can also be viewed locally by going to the default directory you chose in the options (probably C:\Program Files\EQ Item Collector\)

Q:  How do I find item upgrades for my character and add them to my wish list?

A:  Once you have added your character's information you can use tools to search on that information.  Click on your character and then click on tools.  This brings up the equipment upgrader.  Most of it is self explanatory.  The weight feature multiplies the number of the designated stat by that factor when comparing it to your existing equipment.  Thus, if you weight intelligence by 2 and stamina by 1, 2 intelligence items will be considered as desirable as 4 stamina ones.  When you find an item you like, check off the add to wishlist box and hit the add button at the bottom of the page.
