Clearing the Bonus XP Confusion [EverQuest II]

Did you get Bonus XP? How much? Did that potion stack? Kirstie, EverQuest II Associate Producer, posted this today on the official forums :

In what may fall into those "Wow they said they'd never do that" type of moments for EQII, we've made a change to hopefully alieviate almost all of the questions and uncertainty about bonus xp weekends.

In the hotfix I just scheduled for tomorrow morning there is a change to how we display you experience bar. Specifically, Autenil has added a display for the percentage of bonus experience your are gaining from potions and server sidemodifiers to the tooltip that pops up if you hover over the experience bar.

Min/Max'ers everywhere rejoice!

Q: What do you do on Champions Online?
A: I'm the content implementation lead for the Champions Online content team. Zeke (Sparkes) and John Layman come up with the who, what and where of our content; I concentrate more on the HOW. My time is split between implementing cool new mission content and events, answering implementation questions and talking with our programmers and producers about any new technology or tool features the team needs for the areas we are working on.

Myth War II: Tips for DIY Elite Gear [Myth War II]

The folks over at Myth War II sent us this today; a guide to improving your old, worn-out, outdated gear. Ready to upgrade to the good stuff? Then read on!

Equipment Enchanting:

Players can enchant their hats, clothes, weapons and boots without limit. The attribute bonuses after every successful enchanting will take the place of the previous stats. Equipment Enchanting never fails so players don't have to worry about wasting time and gold. Just give Caladur their gear, essence, and enough gold to pay for the enchanting. After it's finished, one of their gear's attributes will get some bonus points that range from +3 to +30 depending on the level of the essence. What kind of essence is used decides which attribute gets the additional points.

Forging

Forging can be done in two ways. One is level forging, the other is attribute forging. Through level forging, players can raise their gear's level. While attribute forging is used to impose special attributes upon a gear without any increase in the gear's level. The special attributes imposed may be Critical, Berserk or HP gain. Moreover, the system will mark a player's name when describing the gear - NICKNAME + FORGING.

Equipment Imbuing

Equipment Imbuing is only used to multiply the power of spells for gear between Level 11 and Level 13. Players can imbue their equipment with gems to enhance their equipment with better resistances and attributes. Each piece of equipment can be imbued with 3 gems at most. The gems' attributes will be added to the equipment. But after equipment has been imbued it can no longer be leveled up at the forge.

Refining

When players have enough Service points, they will get the right to fully detail their gear attributes or resistance. It is done by putting different words ahead of their gear's name to develop what resistance or attributes their gear will gain after the refining is over. Take a common Sword as an example, before the refining starts, players can rename it as the Sword of Smiles. After the refining is finished, this Sword will gain some special attributes. When it is then described the next time, it will be called the ‘Sword of Smiles' and not simply ‘Sword'.

Through these various methods, players can transform their common gear into extraordinary ones all by themselves.

You can read all the details of the systems here .

Guk - A Great Place to Die [EverQuest II]

"The thing I'm most excited about is how much of the atmosphere of the original Guk is captured in the new zones. From the zone art, to the effects, to the population and quests, Guk offers both a sense of nostalgia for longtime EQ players, and a new, haunting experience for those who have yet to enter its cursed halls."

Paul "Cronyn" Molina, EQII Game Designer

NCsoft released a new video today showing off some of the awesome action that exists in their 'free-to-play' game "Exteel". The video, which would have been much better without any audio, is seemingly narriated by a cowboy who's script is on a sticky note. I highly recommend watching this video if you've been wanting to check out what the game is all about. Just make sure to turn the volume off before pushing play!
